As children we’ve learned from our parents, teachers, family, and friends exactly who we need to be today. How we communicate, how we relate to one another, the choices we make in our lives have all been affected by the invisible, but very real weight of expectations and consequences. Some of the response patterns, strategies, and coping mechanisms we’ve learned have been helpful, while others are no longer useful and might even be damaging to your mental health.
In therapy, we work together in a safe environment to discuss problems that you may not feel comfortable sharing with family or friends. We work to understand who you are, what you need, and how to get you what you need so that you feel confident, empowered, and in control of the next chapter in your life. When working with you, I will be drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, narrative, and solution-focused approaches to help you meet your goals.
