It takes a lot of courage to begin a journey towards healing, and yet every human is entitled to a life that reflects their core values, strengths, and truest self. I am passionate about psychotherapy because it can ignite this change process in people. I find it incredibly exciting and humbling to have a job that affords me the privilege of being invited into some of the most intimate pieces of peoples’ lives, and developing trusting relationships so this can happen. I believe there are three main components of the change process in therapy: forging a therapeutic alliance, exploring and reflecting upon the self to gain a deeper understanding into the present moment (those light bulb moments!), and working collaboratively to take steps towards the life you deserve.
Some of the life challenges that I support clients with include trauma, depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, emotion regulation, stress, substance use, parenting, and family relationships. My practice is rooted in Anti Oppressive, trauma-informed social work, with an emphasis on identifying and utilizing clients’ strengths as agents of change. In client sessions, I draw from the following evidence-based practice approaches: CBT, ACT, mindfulness, trauma processing therapy, motivational interviewing, and emotion focused family therapy.
